STATEN ISLAND JAZZ FESTIVAL 25
2012 not only marked UTA’s 45th anniversary as an arts institution, it also celebrated another significant milestone: UTA’s Staten Island JAZZ Festival 25! We were honored to present NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston and his group African Rhythms, headliners to the silver anniversary event. Many all-time favorites returned including Leopoldo Fleming Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble, Vishnu Wood and Safari East, Kiane Zawadi, Danny Mixon Quartet and Betty Shirley, who electrified our birthday extravaganza with their unforgettable sounds and rhythms.
Thanks to the talented musicians and our wonderful audience for joining us to celebrate our 25th year of great
jazz performances on Staten Island!
It was an evening to remember!
